Welcome to Walton-on-Trent Cricket Club.
Walton-on-Trent Cricket Club in the village of Walton-on-Trent has been running for over 140 years and is during the cricket season a focal point for community activity and that provides equal opportunities for people of all ages, ability or sex to play the game of cricket, in a safe and non-discriminatory environment.
The Club currently runs two senior weekend league sides, a Sunday team, an Under 13, an Under 15 and a Kwik Cricket team (aged from 5 – 11 years of age) The Club is also proud to be involved in the ‘All Stars’ programme introducing cricket to 5 – 8 year olds.
Walton Cricket Club currently has a total membership of circa 100 (including Kwik Cricket). Throughout the season the club holds planned training and coaching sessions for Junior Players and Senior Players. We also use our ground for inter school Kwik Cricket Competitions and also provide it for Derbyshire Junior County Games and training sessions.
Role in Community and its impact: Walton Cricket Club is during the cricket season a focal point for community activity The club during the season holds regular events for members and their guests to attend in order to socialise. During 2011, the club initiated, together with other local community clubs the highly successful ‘Community Fun Day’. The WI, Church, Community Club, Parish Council and local School Children all get involved. This takes place every year now.
Goals and Aspirations: To maintain a Cricket Club in the village of Walton-on-Trent that will thrive and expand its member base. To achieve and then maintain Club Mark status to assist in the development of Walton Cricket Club and the coaching of all players To harness and develop anyone interested in cricket so they have the opportunity to contribute to the game at all levels whether as a player or a volunteer to the club giving children the best start in life. Developing more junior cricket across South Derbyshire meaning children have more opportunity to take part in fun, recreational physical activity sessions.
